Nils Pokrupa brought house #2.2 on an expedition to Legoland on June 18. 2013. The short version of the expedition story is told in the above pictures where the house is documented on the way there first on the Öresund bridge, then in the Öresund Tunnel and finally at LEGOland in Billund, Denmark.

As a curiosity, the Öresund bridge also figured in an earlier expedition to Malmö.

We trust that the visit to Legoland was as enjoyable to the Pokrupa familty as can ever as good as can be hoped for. Congratulations to you all on your successful expedition and fair winds for your future adventures.

The picture is a little hazy. We understand that this was an emotional event where tears of nostaliga were shed.

We congratulate Cicci on her first completed expedition with House #2.25 and wish her fair winds on her coming adventures.

Art in Heaven

John-Olof Vinterhav brought Moonhouse #2.23 to the Church of nativity in Bethlehem in June 2013

John-Olof Vinterhav brought Moonhouse #2.23 to the Church of nativity in Bethlehem in June 2013

The MoonHouse in the Middle East June 2013.
What could be a better stopover for the Moon House than the House of Stars, the Nativity Church in Bethlehem. There it could indulge in the light of fire as well as enjoy the company of stars. On its visit to Jerusalem it touched base with Al Aqsa which lent some golden glory and spiritual power for the onward journey.

This report from Jerusalem and Bethlehem reached the Moonhouse Expedition HQ a few days ago. John-Olof Vinterhav brought the house to so many places at once when he brought it to the Holy Land; Into history, religion, politics and more.

The Church of nativity and the Dome of rock are two of the places on Earth that are considered closest to heaven, if in a metaphysical sense. The Church of Nativity stands on the very place where Christians believe that Jesus Christ was born and the Dome of the Rock enshrines the place where Jews believe that God tested Abraham and Muslims believe that the Profet Muhammed ascended into heaven. (Correct me if I am wrong here.)
In this sense it is even more symbolic that the house only sees the Dome of the Rock in a distance as we have yet to reach the Moon.

We congratulate John-Olof Vinterhav on his successful expedition and wish him fair winds on his coming adventures.

John Olof has now passed Moonhouse #2.23 to Daniel Ahlberg for a road trip expedition to California and we take the opportunity to wish fair winds to Daniel on his expedition.

Moonhouse demand exceeding supply

DSC_2949

Today the Expedition has reached a mile stone. The interest for setting out on new expeditions exceed the availability of houses. Now there are 32 houses of the Passport sized model 2. One has been to space and is stuck as a would be museum exhibit, and one is lost somewhere in Africa. Of the remaining 30, 28 have been trusted to Moonhouse Holders and two remain with HQ.

Today we have 4 inquiries for house models for would be expeditions.

In the short term the manufacturing capacity of houses is limited to nil at HQ and hence we are left with the possibilities to kindly ask the current Moonhouse holders to consider to pass their models along and to kindly ask the Moonhouse community to start manufacturing models.

This message was sent to all Moonhouse holders today:

Explorers, Moonhouse Holders,
This is an important message from Moonhouse Expedition HQ.
I write to you as, to the best of my knowledge, you are Moonhouse holders.
Lately the interest for setting out on Moonhouse Expeditions has surged. We are at a point where there are impatient would be explorers offering to take he house to Spain, Mexico, USA and Norway, this week or next. At the same time we are fresh out of houses… Now, the idea is and has been from the start, to let the houses change hands from one explorer to the next. They should never be left in one place long enough to collect dust. Should you, as a Moonhouse holder, have no plans for setting out on an expedition in the near future, please consider passing on your moonhouse model to a fellow, would be explorer or return it to Moonhouse Expedition HQ. The adress can, except in a few cases, be found on the leaflet inside the Moonhouse envelope. Should your adventurous strain urge you to set out on an expedition after you pass the house along there is always the option to ask for another model to be passed to you.

Kind regards,
Emil Vinterhav

The House of the Rising Sun?

New Orleans 1 1 juni 2013 mot mississippi

Picture Taken June 1st 2013.

The Moonhouse brings some colour to the sun baked city of New Orleans. Now there is a house in New Orleans. Could it possibly be the ”House of the Rising Sun”? Another Moonhouse in Music?

Congratulations Patrik on your successful expedition. We wish you fair winds or your coming adventures and hope to hear from coming expeditions of Moonhouse #2.28.

Moonhouse #2.14 in the Animal Kingdom

Interested in the Moonhouse

Sini Merikallio in Finland is breaking new grounds with these absolutely stunning pictures of beautiful animals posing with the house. Sini writes:

Dessa bilder är från Skomarböle, Mörskom, Finland. Den bruna hästen är en finnhäst, Lillin-Tyttö och hundarna är labradorerna Emmi (svart) och Eevi (ljus).

Or in English:

These pictures are from Skomarböle, Mörskom, Finland. The brown horse is a finnhorse Lillin-Tyttö and the dogs are the labradores Emmi (black) and Eevi (blonde)

Be sure to check out these and more images together with Sinis own comments on her flickr Moonhouse-page.

At HQ we had never thought about the house in the Animal Kingdom but presented with this expedition we are again in awe of the creativity of Sini and the ideas of the Moonhouse Explorers. In recognition of Sinis expedition to Finland and the Animal Kingdom, Moonhouse #2.14 will henceforth be known as #2.14 – The Animal Kingdom. We congratulate Sini on her successful expedition and wish her fair wind on her coming adventures. Rumour has it that Sini already has plans for the house, the unfolding of which we look forward to with great interest.

Moonhouse Expedition - unexpected interruption! No worries, Emmi has a very "soft" mouth, so no damage to the house.

These absolutely stunning images taken by Mike Morrison reaches us from the expedition with house #2.15 to Punta Cana in the Domenincan Republic. Admittedly, HQ would very much like to go and check out for itself if the place can be for real. Thank you Mike for sharing these images and fair winds for your coming adventures.

Mount Västerås?

This interesting exchange of messages took place on facebook a few days ago.

Mikael, det har fortfarande inte gått någon expedition till Västerås…. Men med Moonhouse Expedition HQ på Kungsholmen känner jag mig lite som påven i Avignon…

In English:

Mikael, there still hasn’t been an expedition to Västerås… But with the Moonhouse HQ in Kungsholmen [Stockholm], I feel a bit like the pope in Avignon.

Now, Västerås is where the the idea of a placing house on the Moon was originally cracked and is therefore holy grounds to the Moonhouse Expeditions. Kungsholmen is in Stockholm, hence the the aliteration to the exiled Pope.

The message returned was mystifying.

Mikael Genberg

Over and out mr Pope

In English:

No, that is correct, but the house in at Base Camp planning to reach the summit as soon as the weather allows. Climbing Västerås can be fatal under the wrong conditions and particularly so if no oxygen is available. We are all at good spririt and have good faith for a succesful expedition. We hope that the blizzard will calm soon. Over and out Mr. Pope.

We look forward for more reports from this expedition Västerås and to learning more about the summit.

Vi ær røde, vi ær hvide*

Fredrik Zeybrandt brought house #2.4 to Louisiana in Denmark on May 13, 2013

Fredrik Zeybrandt brought house #2.4 to Louisiana in Denmark on May 13, 2013

The house has explored yet another great country! This time Fredrik Zeybrandt has brought Moonhouse #2.4 to Louisiana in Denmark. Denmark is very close to the house due to its close relation to the beautiful colours red and white, the colours of Dannebrogen its red and white flag and associated football cheering song, ”Vi ær røde, vi ær hvide”*.

Louisiana is the well known museum of moderna art located north of Copenhagen. Among the current exhibitions are one with Yoko Ono. Note how the house seems to levitate in these surroundings.

*”Vi ær røde, vi ær hvide” translates to ”We are red, we are white”.
