This report from the Independence Day Expedition reaches us from Mike Morrison in the USA:
Last week the Crimson Tide house accompanied me and my wife to Gulf Shores, AL to celebrate the 4th of July. For the US this date represents our independence from Great Britain. Normally we have huge fireworks displays along with plenty to eat and drink, however this year Mother Nature did not play along:) So no pictures with fireworks unfortunately.
Image 5907 was taken on a dock looking out over Bon Secour Bay on July 2nd, the crane in the background would not come into focus.
Image 5913 is of the house floating on a lily pad in the lagoon on July 3rd.
Image 5904 was taken on July 4th.
Images 5950, 5963, and 5964 were taken on July 3rd at Fort Morgan, possibly the southern most point of the state of Alabama. This fort has been used in many of our nation’s domestic conflicts (a polite way of saying many cannons were fired from this place 🙂
Image 5986 was taken on July 5th at a place called Lulu’s. She is the sister of singer Jimmy Buffett. No margaritas for the house but plenty of fried okra and pot roast quesadilla and beer, obviously.
Here at HQ we particularly appreciate the picture with the Moonhouse together with the United States Flag. It stimulates thoughts on a level words are incapable of. It is art. Moonhouse belongs everywhere, everywhen, to everyone and to none.
Congratulations Mike to your novel and successful expedition and the beautiful imagery and thank you for highlighting this valuable aspect. Fair winds on your coming adventures.
