#2.7 At Nam Phu, Vientiane, Muong Lao, Tim Vistarini, March 8, 2015

Seasoned Explorer Tim Vistarini has brought the Moonhouse #2.7 on an expedition to Vientiane. Nam Phou, is a popular hang out in Vientiane and were it not for the poor lighting conditions in the tropical night in Vientiane we are sure we would have seen the house at the concert that was undoubtedly held the same night as the picture above was taken.

Thank you for sharing this excellent expedition Tim. We hope you had many laughs in Vientiane and fair winds for your coming expeditions!

The house in Tokyo cherry blossom

#2.16 Tokyo, Shinjuku Gyoen Tina Holmqvist, April 24, 2015

#2.16 Tokyo, Shinjuku Gyoen, Tina Holmstedt, April 24, 2015

Tina Holmqvist has been on a very exciting expedition to Tokyo where she and Moonhouse #2.16 have been exploring the legendary cherry blossom in the Shinjuku Gyoen garden. As we all can see the house blends well with the cherry blossom. One would wish that the house could bring a cherry tree to the Moon where the blossoms would be off-set wonderfully agains the black sky and crisp star field. This expedition is poetic to the level that we have to rename Moonhouse #2.16 to Cherry Blossom.

We thank you for sharing the beautiful pictures from your exciting expedition Tina. We wish you fair winds for your coming expeditions.

New Householders, Crowdfunding, A New Moonhouse Expedition and #themoonhouse

Fellow Explorers,

So much has happened lately and we at HQ really owe everyone an update.

Lets get first things first, however and offer Andrea Ahlenius and Lina Ekros a warm welcome as new house holders. Lina is now the holder of moonhouse #2.40 and Andrea is the holder of Moonhouse #2.44. We wish fair winds on Lina’s and Andrea’s coming expeditions and look forward to follow their adventures in the times to come.

No one of you reading this can have missed the grand launch of the bold crowdfunding campaign on May 28. We hinted at this event in an earlier posting and after finding our bearings again we can finally give you an inside report.

The main feature of the crowd funding is the fantastic opportunity for everybody to participate in the artproject that is the Moonhouse. By buying Moon meters and becoming a moonhouse friend on the Moonhouse website you and your friends can become a part of the Moonhouse family and contribute directly to the funding of the Moonhouse. 50 USD will bring the Moonnhouse 1250 meters closer to the moon. It will also immortalise your name on the inside of the house .. on .. the .. moon.

The launch of the crowdfunding activity has been made possible through the support from Falu Rödfärg. Falu Rödfärg has been in the business of red houses for 250 years and it is hard to think of a better and more closely related sponsor.

Associated with the crowdfunding event is a brand new design of the website at http://www.themoonhouse.com where a lot of information about the moonhouse, the art, the technology and its history has been posted. Here at the Moonhouse Expedition we are of course very excited about one feature in particular, the adoption of the Moonhouse Expedition into the stream of activities enabling everyone to participate in the journey to the moon, just the way it was always ment to.  The New Moonhouse Expedition at themoonhouse.com opens up the Moonhouse Expedition to wider participation through an intutive instruction for making your own house and the possibility of posting pictures directly to instagram using the hash-tag #themoonhouse. Pictures posted with the hashtag will show up on themoonhouse.com picture stream.

We at the first Moonhouse Expedition are glad to support the Moonhouse Expedition of the Moonhouse Website in any way we can as it’s objectives are the same as those of the expedition in return the new Moonhouse Expedition offers homage to the efforts of the Moonhouse Explorers part of the first expedition. If you are a Moonhouse Explorer your name is mentioned there.  Also, we are proud to say, the carefully handcrafted Moonhouse Models of our expedition are now rare collectors items. How about that.

Congratulations Moonhouse to the successful launching of the crowdfunding. We wish great success and, of course, fair winds for the New Moonhouse Expedition!

Un grande place for a great house

Brussels is the political capital of EU in many aspects. It sports many fine sights among which are Grand place surrounded by grand buildings of centuries past. Above you find Moonhouse #2.42 – The answer on a landfall in Grand Place. It did pass Manneken Pis but found mooring hard in the crowd.

In the absense of the little boy eternally relieveing himself you find #2.42 attempting to find its karma with the orange Buddha below.

Congratulations Emil on your successful expedition. We wish you fair winds on your coming adventures.

The Moonhouse is current. It is so current that it made an expedition to the EU elections in Sweden just to encourage democratic participation, brought there by an anonymous explorer.

Congratulations anonymous on your successful expedition and fair winds for your coming adventures.

Field tests with #X.2

In the quest for reaching ever more extreme environments and setting out on ever more delicate expeditions there is an ongoing development of ever more capable Moonhouse models. The Moonhouse #X-series are the prototypes of tomorrow’s Moonhouse models. Before the X-series the prototype models were part of the nominal series. Examples are the plastic #2.18 and the negative #1.5. The #X.1 is the first of the moonhouses made from clay. The #X.1 is of similar size as the #3-series and has negative bouyancy in water, meaning that it will sink to the bottom. The #X.2 is similar to #X.1 as it is made from the same material but where the X.1 is comparable in size to the #3-series, the #X.2 is comparable in size to the #2-series. The #X.2 also features a a base magnet making it attachable to magnetic surfaces.

Any prototype has to be tested and Moonhouse #X.2 is no exception. On May 12 endavoured on its first expedition, with Emil Vinterhav to Konradsberg. See the results below.

#2.42 The Answer

On May 22, 2015 Moonhouse #2.42 made landfall near the dome och Cologne lending some of its colour to the aged beauty of the grey building dating back to the middle ages. Or actually, the foundations for the dome were laid in 1248 and the building was completed in 1860. Construction spanning over more than 600 years warrants respect.

Congratualations on your successful expedition Emil, we wish you fair winds for your coming expeditions.
