The following message arrived yesterday from the Canadian Expedition:

Dear Moonhouse Expedition,
On the sunny afternoon of April 29th, on the Canadian west-coast, Moonhouse Explorers J. Bergcoutts and L. Bergcoutts ascended by Gondola to the peak of Grouse Mountain where they planted a moonhouse in the snow, at an altitude of approx. 1,200 m (4,000 feet). At sundown 6 stunning photos were taken of the moonhouse with different backdrops. Due to the dramatic difference in temperature between the foot and the peak of the mountain the explorers had to escape the northern winds and find their refuge in the peak chalet where a strengthening coffee and accompanying brownie gave them new energy to embark on fuuture adventures.
Lena & Jeff Bergcoutts

Grouse Mountain stretches the boundary of where the house has explored to by being both the most westerly (126,7°W) location the Moonhouse has exlpored and the place with the highest altitude (1200 m), still on the terra firma. It also adds Canada to the now quite extensive list of nations that the Expedition has ventured to. The most westerly before was Riverview California (117,3°W) and the highest altitude was Drommen (1160 m).

We congratulate Jeff and Lena to their successful expedition a wish them fair winds for their future adventures, with and without the moonhouse.

Twin expedition: Art giants in Venice

House #2.23 on the Grand Canal in Venice. Brought there by John-Olof Vinterhav on April 24, 2013

Houses #2.22 and #2.23 has completed a successful expedition to Venice, Italy. The above picture is taken at the west bridgehead of Ponte dell’Accademia looking south over the Canal Grande. Note how well the Moonhouse (#2.23) blends in with the medieval surroundings; the stern of a Venice Gondola protruding from the greenery in the foreground and Basilica di Santa Maria della Salute dominating the skyline.

Great works of art are inclusive and enhance each other mutually. The above image features house #2.22 in front of Picassos ”The Studio” displayed at the Peggy Guggenheim Collection in Venice. Focus is naturally on the Moonhouse but one can sense how Picassos painting and the Moonhouse complement each other. Painting and sculpture. Architecture and portrait.

Congratulations on the successful completion of your first expeditions John-Olof Vinterhav and Ulla Vinterhav. Fair winds on your future adventures. Houses #2.22 and #2.23 will hence forth be named The Picasso and The Canal Grande.

The Moonhouse on Earth. To learn how to run, one must first learn how to walk. Here is a homage to all the houses on Earth to which the Moonhouse must relate. (The Swedish word ”jord” has the dual meanings of ”Earth” and ”earth”).

House #2.21 encountered Earth on May 1, 2013 with Emil Vinterhav in Bromma.

What a meeting between light weight and massivity when Nils Pokrupa brings Moonhouse #2.2 to Kalmar Slott, or Kalmar Castle. House #2.2 is the very house that has previously explored the hilltops in Sälen. Thank you Nils for bringin the house on this successful Expedition.

Fair winds on your coming adventures!

#2.21 in Music – Our house, in the middle of a street

In the path of making the house ubiquitous the house has broken new ground this last week. First in sprorts when the house was present at the home coming game in Alabama, then in the cyckle of nature when the house found spring and now in Music. Behold, House #2.21, Our house, in the middle of a street., the ever green song by Madness.

Mike Morrison posted this picture from his ongoing expedition with Moonhouse #2.15 to the Expeditions facebook page two days ago. (Apologies for the delay Mike, things have been really hectic around here lately.) Mike writes: ”Moonhouse #2.15 got to go to this year’s A-Day Game at the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa, AL, USA. Roll Tide Roll!!”
It seems that Mike did not only bring the house to Alabama, but also introduced it to the world of sports as a quick search connects the ”A-day” and the ”Crimson tide” (see the flag) to University of Alabama athletics.

Thank you Mike! In honor of this great first flag, crimson and all, and with your permission Mike, Moonhouse #2.15 will henceforth be called ”The Crimson Tide”.

#2.17 Stunning in Strängnäs

20130418 #2.17 Strängnäs 1

20130418 #2.17 Strängnäs 1 – What an absolutely stunning view!

Last night, a few minutes before midninght these absolutely stunning three images reached the Moonhouse Expedition HQ accompanied by the following message:

”Dear Moonhouse Expedition,

I am sending you a few pictures showing house no 2.17’s visit to Strängnäs cathedral, Sweden! My fellow explorer Alberto Forcada and I were privileged to have an exclusive guidance by the enthusiastic cathedral sacristan Stefan Eklund. Stefan showed us the way through narrow stairways all the way to the top – some 75 meters over ground level – whilst telling the story of the old church. Very exciting!
The wind was strong and we had to use sticky tape to prevent the house from being swiped away.

We are now passing house 2.17 on to our friend Lena Bergcoutts for further explorations in Vancouver, Canada.

Fair winds!

Johanna Vinterhav and Alberto Forcada”

20130418 #2.17 Strängnäs 2

20130418 #2.17 Strängnäs 2 – Suugestive, smart and beautiful!

Again, the Moonhouse opens doors and explores the hidden mysteries of the world. Congratulations Alberto and Johanna to the successful completion of a very rewarding expedition and thank you for sharing the beautiful, suggestive and creative images with us. We extend our gratitude also to Stefan Eklund for his important contribution to this successful expedition and welcome him to become an explorer in his own right should he so desire. In recognition of this successful expedition, house #2.17 shall hereafter be known as ”The Strängnäs”.

With the house on a passage across the Atlantic into the care of Lena Bergcoutts in Vancouver, Canada, we look forward to sharing the adventures of the future expeditions of #2.17 The Strängnäs, whatever they take it.

20130418 #2.17 Strängnäs 3 – How isolated, and removed the house sits there on a cold slap of stone.

Fair Winds to The Strängnäs!
