A Moonhouse in the Negev desert

The reddish dry rocks of the Negev Desert in Israel gives you that martian feeling, even though the skies are blue and the air is hot (and breathable). It’s not Mars, but an exciting area nevertheless.

The Moonhouse landed at  lat: 29.504383, long: 34.904680 approximately 11.00 UTC 15 feb 2013. The spot lies right at the border between Israel and Egypt and the border fence runs along the road that is vaguely visible between the hills behind the moonhouse. This expedition did not have the opportunity to move closer to the border since an israeli army outpost on the hill to the left made it clear that it was not a good idea.

If you look around from the moonhouse vantage point you can see Israel, Egypt, Jordan and Saudi Arabia. One kilometer away from the moonhouse lies the Taba crossing, which is the only regulated landcrossing between Israel and Egypt.

Now we are truly on the way. Petra Vainonpää has become a true housetronaut and caught the Moonhouse in this beautiful image taken in Månstad. Månstad translates directly into Moontown and lies in beautiful Västergötland, close to the city of Borås.

A Moonhouse in Africa

The first Expedition to Africa is about to set off. On Monday night the Moonhouse will set sails for the East Coast of the great continent to make an appearance. As there will be opportunity for placing a house on the seabed of the Indian Ocean the Expedition is looking for ways to allowed for a submerged appearance, be it in a sealed container or with a water proof model.

More houese on the way. #2.5 on its way to Månstad and #2.8 on its way to Nacka. Furthermore, house #2.4 is on its way to Gothenburg and #2.7 on its way to the Salomon Islands. We look forward to seeing beautiful pictures from these and other locations shortly.

House #2.9, which is yet to be named, is on its way to Budapest, Hungary. Budapest could be the first stop on a tour of European Capitals.

A second house has been released into the wild. Last night Nils Pokrupa became the caretaker of house #2.2 – ”The Sälen”. (The first house in the wild is #1.2 – ”The Taj”.)
The Sälen house is of a model with a base of 6 cm x 4 cm and a height of 5 cm. It takes its name from an appearance on the top of Sälenfjällen early in 2013.

We wish Nils and the house fair winds and hope to see it appear in interesting places shortly.

One of the first if not _the_ first appearances of the Moonhouse outside Sweden was on the Great Wall of China near Badaling when the author/journalist Anders Lif brought the house to the first of the Seven Wonders of the World in 2008. Anders Lif is also the author of the book ”Mångalen : Genberg och de tusen musketörerna” (ISBN13: 9789185319206) chronicling the Moonhouse poject

I dagens fantastiska vinterväder letade sig Månhuset upp till Hagahöjden för att njuta av utsikten. Med minus tre grader kallt och och runt en fot snöpuder vad förutsättningarna för en expedition. Den enda som skiljde dagen från en full femetta var snökristallerna som gjorde sikten lite disig men det gjorde inte så mycket eftersom zoom-objektivet råkade bli kvar hemma och min tänkta telebild med huset och globen tillsammans ändå inte kunde fångas.

On Friday the Moonhouse Expedition expanded as it accepted a new challenge. The Seven Wonders will bring the Moonhouse to the seven wonders of the world. The first house is already on the way to India where it will meet one of the masterpieces of civilisation, the Taj Mahal. A brand new Houseonaut has accepted the task of bringing the house to the first of the seven wonders.

Planetarie-expeditionen skulle under dagen besöka de inre planeterna utom Mars. Resan avlöpte väl och expeditionen anlöpte Jorden och dess satellit Månen vid 10 på morgonen lokal tid den 6:e januari 2013 (JD 2456298.888889).

Efter anständigt beskådande av sceneriet och beundrande av den sköna naturen fortsatte turen inåt mot centralstjärnan ”Solen”. Nästa planerade uppehåll var Venus men väl på plats på Venustorget visade sig Venus ingenstans vara att finna. Möjligen hade den intergalaktiska förbifarten som höll på att byggas i området något med saken att göra men möjligen hade Venus dukat under i kampen med sin spegelbild på Observatoriet.

Med denna fadäs i bagaget fortsatte expeditionen med obruten vilja mot Merkurius, den innersta av solsystemets planeter. Denna återfanns vi de beräknade koordinaterna utanför entrén till Stockholms stadsmuseum. Vacker, nätt och med ena sidan lite varmare än den andra, även på vinterhalvåret uthärdar den på sin plats de naturliga elementens påfrestningar.

Med Merkurius passerad återstod bara själva Solen som tronade in ståtligt majestät vid Skanstull, söder om Söder. Med sina 71m i diameter är den sannerligen kolossen i solsystemet.
