Interested in the Moonhouse

Sini Merikallio in Finland is breaking new grounds with these absolutely stunning pictures of beautiful animals posing with the house. Sini writes:

Dessa bilder är från Skomarböle, Mörskom, Finland. Den bruna hästen är en finnhäst, Lillin-Tyttö och hundarna är labradorerna Emmi (svart) och Eevi (ljus).

These pictures are from Skomarböle, Mörskom, Finland. The brown horse is a finnhorse Lillin-Tyttö and the dogs are the labradores Emmi (black) and Eevi (blonde)

At HQ we had never thought about the house in the Animal Kingdom but presented with this expedition we are again in awe of the creativity of Sini and the ideas of the Moonhouse Explorers. In recognition of Sinis expedition to Finland and the Animal Kingdom, Moonhouse #2.14 will henceforth be known as #2.14 – The Animal Kingdom. We congratulate Sini on her successful expedition and wish her fair wind on her coming adventures. Rumour has it that Sini already has plans for the house, the unfolding of which we look forward to with great interest.

Mount Västerås?

Mikael, det har fortfarande inte gått någon expedition till Västerås…. Men med Moonhouse Expedition HQ på Kungsholmen känner jag mig lite som påven i Avignon…

In English:

Mikael, there still hasn’t been an expedition to Västerås… But with the Moonhouse HQ in Kungsholmen [Stockholm], I feel a bit like the pope in Avignon.

Now, Västerås is where the the idea of a placing house on the Moon was originally cracked and is therefore holy grounds to the Moonhouse Expeditions. Kungsholmen is in Stockholm, hence the the aliteration to the exiled Pope.

The message returned was mystifying.

Nej, det är ju korrekt men huset befinner sig i Base-Camp med planerna att nå toppen så snart väderleken tillåter. Det är förenat med livsfara att bestiga Västerås under fel förhållanden och i synnerhet om syrgas inte finns tillhands. Men alla är ännu vid gott mod och med fortsatt optimism om en framgångsrik expedition. Vi hoppas att snöovädret ska ge med sig snart. Over and out mr Pope

In English:

No, that is correct, but the house in at Base Camp planning to reach the summit as soon as the weather allows. Climbing Västerås can be fatal under the wrong conditions and particularly so if no oxygen is available. We are all at good spririt and have good faith for a succesful expedition. We hope that the blizzard will calm soon. Over and out Mr. Pope.

We look forward for more reports from this expedition Västerås and to learning more about the summit.

The house has explored yet another great country! This time Fredrik Zeybrandt has brought Moonhouse #2.4 to Louisiana in Denmark. Denmark is very close to the house due to its close relation to the beautiful colours red and white, the colours of Dannebrogen its red and white flag and associated football cheering song, ”Vi ær røde, vi ær hvide”*.

Louisiana is the well known museum of moderna art located north of Copenhagen. Among the current exhibitions are one with Yoko Ono. Note how the house seems to levitate in these surroundings.

*”Vi ær røde, vi ær hvide” translates to ”We are red, we are white”.

Two New House Holders

Today we have the privilege to introduce two new house holders.
Moonhouse #2.31 has been entrusted to Bo Svensson of Östersund and Moonhouse #2.29 has been entrusted to Lotta Liljelund of Stockholm.
We wish Bo and Lotta fair winds on their expeditions and look forward to learning more about their coming adventures with their houses.

Ich bin ein Hamburger! Ronald Reagan famously put it when he visited Berlin. Now the house can proudly say so too. Carl Nordlund brought house #2.9 to the University of Hamburg in Hamburg, Germany on May 26, 2013. Why the house is posing with the Sunbelt poster is unclear but maybe, and unknown to the author of this post, Hamburg is know as the Sunbelt in Germany.

The Moonhouse in Literature celebrating ”Towel Day” in Celebration of Douglas Adams, the author of the Hitch Hikers Guide to the Galaxy trilogy of novels in four parts.

Today we celebrate Towel Day as a tribute to Douglas Adams, the author of best selling Hitch Hikers Guide to the Galaxy trilogy in four parts (not forgetting the fifth installment). The trilogy has open the eyes of the world to importance of the number 42 and set it on the quest to finding the illusive ”question of life, the universe and everything” to which the number is the answer. He has tought us the the secrets of flying, the mechanics of interstellar space flight, the infinite improbability drive, the SEP-cloaking field, the pan-galactic gargle blaster, an apologise from god (We are sorry for the inconvenience), the heart of gold spaceship and many more ground breaking ideas.

Thank you Mr. Adams. The house #1.3 has its towel under firm control. Be ware of the leopard.
